Job Title: Embedded Software Developer(Brake Systems)

Location: Peoria, Illinois

Job Description:

The Brake system developer will design, develop, and validate advanced brake systems for off-highway and heavy-duty equipment. This includes hydraulic, pneumatic, and electric brake systems for vehicles such as excavators, bulldozers, loaders, and mining trucks. This role is a key part of ensuring industry-leading safety, performance, and reliability for our products. This role focuses on implementing safety-critical braking control algorithms, ensuring compliance with functional safety standards, and integrating software with ECUs for DBW applications.

Key Responsibilities
• Design, model, and implement brake control algorithms using tools such as MATLAB/Simulink.
• Work with cross-functional teams to integrate software with electronic control units (ECUs), sensors, actuators, and mechanical components.
• Define and develop new brake system features and functions to improve machine performance, operator comfort, and site safety.
• Diagnose and resolve complex technical issues related to brake controls in development and production machinery.
• Ensure that brake control systems meet rigorous functional safety standards and performance requirements through hazard analysis and FMEA.
• Stay current with emerging technologies in vehicle dynamics, controls, and automation to drive innovation.

Required Qualifications
• Bachelor's or master's degree in electrical, or Controls Engineering.
• Strong knowledge of control theory and embedded software development.
• Experience with model-based design using MATLAB/Simulink.
• Proficiency with in-vehicle communication protocols, such as J1939 (CAN).
• Knowledge of vehicle dynamics and experience with heavy equipment braking systems.
• Experience with embedded systems and data acquisition tools like CANape or similar.
• Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills to address complex control system challenges.
• Excellent communication and teamwork abilities to work effectively with diverse, cross-functional teams.
• Strong understanding of how customers and operators use heavy equipment is highly desired.
Compensation: $90,000.00 - $100,000.00 per year
