Job Title: Infotainment Display Engineer (5 – 10 years’ experience required)
Location: Novi, MI
 
Key Responsibilities
 
  • Lead the mechanical design and release of infotainment display systems (touchscreens, instrument clusters, HUDs).
  • Develop 3D CAD models and 2D drawings using CATIA V5
  • Ensure compliance with packaging constraints, material selection, durability, thermal management, and vibration resistance.
  • Conduct DFMEA (Design Failure Mode and Effect Analysis) and DVP&R (Design Verification Plan & Report) to ensure robust designs.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (EE, software, manufacturing, purchasing, suppliers) to integrate displays seamlessly into the vehicle interior.
  • Work with suppliers on design feasibility, manufacturability, and cost optimization.
  • Analyze test results and provide design modifications to address performance issues.
  • Maintain BOM (Bill of Materials) and documentation for design release
 
Qualifications & Skills
 
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in mechanical design and release, preferably in automotive infotainment or interior components.
  • Proficiency in CAD software (CATIA V5) for 3D modeling and 2D drafting.
  • Strong understanding of mechanical properties, injection molding, die-casting, and sheet metal design.
  • Experience with GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing) and tolerance stack-up analysis.
  • Knowledge of thermal and vibration management in display modules.
  • Familiarity with automotive product development processes (APQP, PPAP, DFMEA, DVP&R).
  • Ability to work with global suppliers and manufacturing teams to ensure design feasibility.
  • Excellent communication and project management skills.
 
Preferred Qualifications
 
  • Experience with display bonding technologies (OCA, OCR, direct bonding, air gap designs).
  • Familiarity with automotive infotainment system architecture and HMI integration.
  • Knowledge of material science and coatings for displays (anti-glare, anti-reflective, etc.).
  • Understanding of connectors, flex circuits, and electronic packaging in display modules.
Compensation: $90,000.00 - $95,000.00 per year
